Mandolins

The f-5 Mandolin, above and below, has a Spruce top with Maple back, sides, neck and head. Ebony fretboard, peghead overlay. Sunburst finish. Mother of pearl inlay on the peghead with diamond pattern fret markers or custom design on fret board, with f sound holes. Lots of Percussive Chop. Good traditional Bluegrass Music.

A-5 Mandolins, below, Triple layer binding on the body, fingerboard, and peghead. The head has ebony overlay on the front and back. The fingerboard is arched to a 10 inch radius, is 1 1/8 inches wide at the nut and has 22 easily accessible frets. Custom tail piece.

F-4 style, above, has an oval sound hole with body scroll and two points. Flamed Maple back, sides, neck and head.Spruce top. Ebony fretboard, peghead overlay, sunburst finish. f-4 Mandolins have a full resonant single note sound, good for Irish, Swing,and Old Timey music.

The Mandolin family consists of Mandolins, Mandolas, Mandocellos, and Octave Mandolins

Mandolas are larger and therefore have deeper, fuller tone and sound. Tuned a fifth below the mandolin, the mandola has more sustain than the mandolin.

The Octave Mandolin uses the same body as the Mandocello but has a shorter neck and 22 inches string length. It is tuned one octave below a Mandolin.

The Mandocello was patterned after, but not copied from a Gibson Style Mandocello. It has a 24 3/4 inches string length and is built relatively heavy. It's carved top has a tall bridge and is built to be played strongly. It can be a real canon in the right hands. The neck is slim and has a two way adjustable truss rod for low action and finger board radius for ease of playing.
